Trauma Recovery Certification Training Program
The primary goal of the Trauma Recover Certification Training is for students to gain the knowledge and skills to assess and offer appropriate interventions to help individuals, groups, families and communities heal the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual effects of traumatizing experiences. During the 160 hours of trauma recovery training students advance their counselling skills, learn to use therapeutic art, energy work and nature work, and learn to successfully guide clients to heal the inner-most scars of trauma. Students learn to heal the effects of childhood trauma, domestic violence, and other experiences of terror, including those resulting from residential school experiences. Based upon the belief that effective helpers must themselves be on a healing journey, a second goal of this training is the facilitation of personal healing for each participant. Certification following this training is equivalent to two elective courses toward a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy. Upon certification, students also receive 160 Continuing Education Units toward certification or recertification as a drug and alcohol counsellor.
